Pre-admission

Pre-admission is an important part of your journey through Hove Day Surgery. Once it has been confirmed that you need treatment, we kindly ask that you complete our pre-admission forms by clicking on the button above - Electronic Admission Portal. Hard copies are available at the Hove Specialist Clinic reception desk, and staff are happy to assist you completing the forms.

Prior to your treatment, we will use this information to confirm if any fees are payable (such as an excess or co-payment) directly to Hove Day Surgery - these are due on there day of admission. Fees for your treating doctor and anaesthetist are separate and we urge you to confirm these prior to admission.

If necessary, our nursing staff will contact you by phone prior to your day of admission to confirm your medical history and to discuss the specifics of admission and discharge.

Sedation

As a general rule, you will need to being fasting 6 hours prior to your admission. However, you can continue to drink clear fluids (water) up to 2 hours prior. Continue to take your usual medications, at their usual time, unless instructed otherwise.

You will need to be collected by a responsible person following your procedure, so please don’t plan to drive yourself home.

The standard rules for the first 24 hours following sedation are:

  • Do not drive a vehicle or operate any machinery

  • Do not drink alcohol

  • Do not sign any legal documents

  • Do not catch public transport or be alone

  • Do not take sedatives
